Mel asked:
Ok, heres the story. Today my boyfriend was driving my car to the store. He went in and realized that the cop was following him. He left out and guess what? He got pulled over. Long story short. He then told him to get out of the car, didnt ask for registration or insurance nothing.
So the cop cuffed and escorted to the back of the police car. Moments later the cops says that the freggin license plate was not the right on to the car, and i have no insurance. Thing is I have valid insurance that I have NEVER missed a payment on and there is NO way that my license did not match up with my car. I got a new plate and renewed my registration together in 2008 after my last plate was stolen.
I called my insurance company and I have a copy of my registration with my plate number on it so I can have proof when I go to get my report on Monday, to prove the reason why they towed my car was not legit.
To top it off, I cant get my car out until Monday. If I take all of my info to the police station and prove that he wrongfully towed me, will I still have to pay the tow company. Also can I sue for harassment.
It took place in PA and they did wrongfully tow my car because I do have valid insurance and my plate is also. Im not paying for that tow becasue they wnated to harass me!

he cant do that
Sounds to me like you have a history with the local cops? Spill the beans
You asked this yesterday. Honestly, they can tow the car no matter if you think they towed it because of lack of insurance. They caught your boyfriend with pot, they could impound the car for drug trafficking and sell it at a police auction. If you don’t pay the fines, you won’t get your car and the fines will increase daily.
